Yulia Petrauskas is an award-winning filmmaker, actor, and two-time Canadian Comedy Award Nominee.

 As the driving force behind Episcene Studios, they operate on the boundary line where mainstream perception meets the underground.

As a multidisciplinary auteur·e, Yulia’s creative lens explores the complex spaces between dark comedy, taboo subcultures, and fractured perspectives—transmuting the heavy architecture of human trauma into visceral visual poetry that completely rejects conventional genre boxes.

Under the Episcene Studios banner, Yulia directs, shoots, produces, and edits raw, high-concept independent media.

Their distinct creative alchemy earned the 2024 Absurd Film Festival Grand Jury Prize for Best Experimental Film (Port Hope) and Best Comedy (Da Kink in My Lair: A Day in the Life of a Dom).

Yulia’s background spans stunts and major network film and television credits (Incendo, Prime Video, Netflix, CBC). They are a graduate of the Humber Theatre Conservatory, and an alumnus of the Second City Conservatory and the Queer Youth Arts Program at Buddies In Bad Times Theatre and the Canadian National Voice Intensive.

Following a deliberate hiatus to pursue personal creative endeavours, Yulia has officially returned to the arena—bringing an uncompromising, seasoned, and singular voice back home to the international independent film circuit and beyond.
